It took a little extra time, but the Marysville-Pilchuck girls basketball team hung in and defeated Edmonds-Woodway 59-57 in overtime in a first-round game of the 4A District 1 tournament Feb. 18 at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

“It was back and forth the entire game,” E-W head coach Wayne Edwards said. “Nobody got a big lead.”

Britt Harris led the Tomahawks (15-6 overall) with 20 points, including a field goal in overtime that helped put M-P up for good.

“(Harris) played well the entire game,” Edwards said.

M-P moves on to face Snohomish on Saturday at 6 p.m. in a winner-to-state game on their home court.

The Warriors (16-5) were led by the 26 points of sophomore Angela Woods, who also contributed seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

E-W plays Cascade in a loser-out game at noon Saturday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
