Prosecutors filed first-degree assault charges Feb. 21 against a 30-year-old Edmonds woman who allegedly shot her boyfriend in the stomach during an argument Feb. 18.
Jenifer Lynn Dayal was being held in the Snohomish County Jail. She was charged in Everett District Court. Deputy prosecutor Paul Stern released few details about the incident, except that the man was shot with a 9mm pistol.
The case will have to be forwarded to Snohomish County Superior Court within two weeks if authorities decide to pursue prosecution.
Edmonds police responded to an apartment in the 7300 block of 213th Place SW at 1:34 a.m. Feb. 18 after a wounded man pulled a fire alarm in the building to summon aid.
Police said Dayal and the victim had been arguing about their relationship before the 29-year-old Edmonds man was shot.
“It was a dispute that got out of control,” said Edmonds Sgt. John Cameron.
The man, who was shot once, was in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle the next day, a hospital spokeswoman said. The man remained in the hospital Feb. 21. The hospital declined to release his condition at that point.
