Can you spare a little change?

Posted at 12:01 am by Doug Parry, Herald staff

If there's anything we learned from the political conventions, it's that you want change. A change in the White House, a change of clothes, even a little spare change. It's everywhere:

Change in the Seahawks' backfield: The Hawks open their season with a new set of running backs today. The ghost of Shaun Alexander could loom large on the field, but that's OK. His ghost goes down pretty easily with any contact.

Change at Google: At its 10th birthday, the company is at the height of its glory and wondering what's next. Google is facing the problem that confronts every 10-year-old who has achieved his or her dreams -- no one will play Monopoly with you when you own hotels on every street.

Changes in gaming: To compete better with the Wii, Microsoft is lowering the price of its Xbox to $200. Of course, if you buy an Xbox for your husband or son, it will still cost you your husband or son.

Change at the UW: The football team found a new, more heartbreaking way to lose on Saturday. Hold on. As Joe Biden would say, "That's not change; that's more of the same."
