Snohomish County schools closed again today because of more snow and bad road conditions. Tonight’s high school sports events have been postponed.
Eighteen events involving local teams were scheduled for today (seven boys swimming meets and 11 wrestling meets). Yesterday snowy weather wiped out 14 local events, mostly girls basketball games. More postponements could pile up over the next few days.
“There will be no Wesco events tonight and I think tomorrow’s pretty doubtful and Saturday’s pretty doubtful,” Marysville School District athletic director Greg Erickson said this morning.
Dates for today’s postponed events, a few of which involved non-Wesco schools, have not been announced.
If schools remain closed tomorrow it would produce the biggest one-day batch of game postponements yet this week. Friday’s schedule includes 33 boys and girls basketball games for area schools.
A ceremony planned at the Marysville Secondary Campus on the Tulalip Reservation is in danger of being postponed. The campus gym is scheduled to be dedicated to Francis J. Sheldon, a former tribal leader, 6:30 p.m. tomorrow after the 5 p.m. Heritage versus Lummi girls basketball game. The Heritage versus Lummi boys basketball game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m., after the ceremony.
