Reichert says he’d vote for a clean spending bill

SEATTLE — U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert said he would vote for a no-strings attached spending bill to end the federal government shutdown.

The Auburn Republican made that declaration during an interview with KIRO radio (97.3 FM) on Saturday.

When asked specifically if he would vote in support a so-called “clean resolution” if it were brought to the House floor, Reichert responded “Yes.”

Reichert has avoided explicit talk in the days before and since the federal government shutdown began last week.

In previous emails to constituents, Reichert had not mentioned that he would be willing to drop conditions, such as delaying the Affordable Care Act, in order to end the shutdown. His spokeswoman on Tuesday would only say that Reichert “has been clear that he will continue to support legislation that opens the government.”
