Three cheers, not strikes, for no new taxes

Regarding the July 26 editorial, “Legislature collapse: Three strikes – you’re out!” The Herald says three strikes, but I say three cheers. Three cheers that there was finally a voice against the tax policies of the liberals, the new left and the bureaucratic oligarchy they support.

As a driver I would like to see many road changes, and I’m encouraged by what I hear from the new director of the Deptartment of Transportation, but I’ll not willing to pay a dime more in taxes as long as the state continues to direct so much of the budget to nonessentials. You say that the governor did his job and the legislature has failed, but I see it the other way around. Only a new left extremist would even attempt to convince me that I got screwed by not having the opportunity to pay more taxes. The governor has failed to lead or make tough decisions.

If this is the emergency that we are led to believe it is, we need to treat it as such and start by cutting the general budget and dedicate that money to building roads. The Legislature and the governor can work together to solve this problem if they just get over their fixation that everything government does is good, just and warranted.
