Marine doesn’t waffle on taxes

In response to the state Democratic Party’s mailing piece indicating that Joe Marine waffles on taxes, I would like to clarify a couple of points. I too supported Initiative 695 as it cut the motor vehicle excise tax.

Only 12 percent of the revenue collected was used for transportation while the other 88 percent was used to fund other non-transportation related programs from the general fund.

The transportation bill supported by Joe Marine would have been a step in the right direction in solving many of the state’s transportation woes by funneling 100 percent of the revenue generated to address the transportation issue.

This is not a waffle as indicated by the political piece, but rather prudent politics by an independent-minded state representative striving to address the issues most important to you. Support the effort to retain Joe Marine so he can keep working hard for working families in a bipartisan fashion.
