Fighting hunger, despair in county
Published 9:00 pm Monday, December 24, 2001
On behalf of Operation Short Fall, I want to thank several organizations that have recently contributed to our organization.
Operation Short Fall is a local volunteer driven nonprofit dedicated to helping fight hunger and despair in Snohomish County. Several wonderful community groups have provided continuous funding year in and year out. These organizations really deserve special mention: IBEW #191, Teamsters #38, Everett Sertoma Club, Laborers #292, Snohomish County Labor Council, and South Everett Rotary. Combined with hundreds of caring and compassionate members of our community and many other organizations, Operation Short Fall has helped meet critical shortages in our local Food Bank network by working closely with Volunteers of America, United Way of Snohomish County, and the Snohomish County Labor Council.
In addition, crisis financial assistance has helped hundreds of individuals and families avoid loss of their house or apartment, utility service and other critical basic needs. Finally, we want to thank The Herald for continuing to use its powerful voice in helping the community know that the ‘Safety Net’ is under severe pressure. Due to the great coverage, many generous individuals, companies and organizations have stepped forward to join hands in fighting hunger and hopelessness in Snohomish County. Thank You!
