It’s not about whose religion is best

The ongoing dispute over the two words “under God” in the flag salute is fast becoming the taxpayers latest expensive and time wasting epidemic. The heavy involvement of the states and the high courts would be easily solved by returning the text to the original form. The form used prior to the change made in 1954 (to separate us from the Godless USSR). The USSR no longer exists, so why not revert to the original pledge?

The extra words seem redundant in today’s America.

In these times when we are celebrating diversity, a deity of ones choice could be inserted during the pause after “one nation”, if desired. Kind of like the military’s don’t ask, don’t tell policy. That way if a person wanted to add their particular favorite and still show the proper respect for Old Glory and the United States of America. That is what the pledge of allegiance is all about. It’s not about whose religion is best.
