Don’t blame police for everything

In response to the July 10 letter from Sharon Beach, “Marysville off-ramp still an eyesore”: I too love this town and agree with her thoughts on the transient problem.

However, I take issue with her blaming the police for not doing anything. When we pass laws controlling this type of activity, we also need to provide funds to enforce these laws. All the cities are cash strapped as a result of people such as Tim Eyman taking money out of the system and not being willing to pay taxes.

Snohomish County has to lay off law enforcement because we failed to vote for operating expenses for the new jail. The police are not to blame. We, the citizens, are to blame for our own inaction. If we demand services, we had better be willing to pay for them.
