Three college soccer players honored

Three soccer players with local ties have been named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Soccer Academic all-star teams.

Joel Saulter, a senior defender for Western Washington University, was named to the men’s squad for the second straight year. Saulter is a biology/anthropology major with a 3.60 grade-point average on a scale of 4.0. He is a graduate of Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle.

Sarah Melby of Mukilteo and Megan Lienhard of Everett were named to the women’s team. Both play for Seattle Pacific University.

Melby, a junior midfielder from Kamiak High School, has a 3.78 GPA in political science. Lienhard, a sophomore midfielder/forward from Cascade High School, carries a 3.45 GPA in sociology.
