Spokane has record snowfall

SPOKANE — Residents of Eastern Washington woke up Friday to find record snowfall on the ground.

The National Weather Service said Friday that a storm dumped 8.2 inches of snow at Spokane International Airport over 24 hours.

The previous record for the date was 6.5 inches in 1946.

At Davenport, the weather service reported 7.5 inches of snow, more than double the record of 3.6 inches set in 1973.
