STANWOOD — About 12,000 PUD customers were without power early Christmas morning in the Stanwood and Camano Island area.
The power went out just before 8 a.m. when a part at the nearby substation failed, said PUD spokesman Mike Thorne.
By 10 a.m., power was restored to about 8,000. By about 1:40 p.m., all customers had their power back.
"We did move fast. We knew our customers on Christmas Day needed to get power back as soon as possible," Thorne said.
