Three-set singles triumph, doubles sweep lift Panthers

SNOHOMISH – Snohomish swept the doubles matches on its way to a 5-2 Wesco North triumph over Marysville-Pilchuck Thursday.
Panthers coach Dick Jansen said the No. 2 singles match was the highlight. Kaleb Stevens of Snohomish outlasted Nicholas Haughian 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
“That was the match of the day, very competitve play,” Jansen said.

Shorecrest 4, Kamiak 3: Cameron Purn clinched Shorecrest’s Wesco South victory with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 4 singles. In other action, Kamiak coach Vic Alinen praised Knights David Ro and Pat Yoon, who won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles. “It was a fun match to watch,” Alinen said. “It was a battle.”
At Mukilteo

Everett 4, Lynnwood 3: Everett swept the doubles and Bobby Olsen followed a tiebreaker win in the first set with a 6-0 sweep in the second at No. 2 singles to give the Seagulls the Wesco South win.

Edmonds-Woodway 7, Meadowdale 0: Edmonds-Woodway senior Mike Maldazys came back from a 5-7 first set loss, winning the final two sets 6-4, 6-2 to defeat Drew Eli at No.2 singles. Warriors freshman William Guo also bounced back from one set down to win his No. 4 singles match in the Wesco South meet.
