Police were still trying late Friday to find a man who tried to run down an Everett police officer with his car.
A member of the Snohomish County Narcotics Task Force called police about 4:30 p.m. after seeing the man, 23, in his car at the Sunrise Motor Inn in the 8400 block of Evergreen Way, Everett police Capt. Mike Campbell said.
The man has a history of possessing illegal drugs and stolen weapons, Campbell said.
An officer arrived minutes later and got out of his patrol car. As he walked up to the car, the man sped toward him, as if to run him down, Campbell said. The officer pulled his gun and fired at the car, puncturing one of its tires.
The man turned around and left the parking lot. Police followed him to a neighborhood in the 800 block of 90th Street SW, where he got out of his car and ran away.
Using police dogs, the man was tracked to a home about four houses away .
Police spent hours calling the home’s phone and yelling for the man to come out, but they got no answer, Campbell said. Police applied for a search warrant.
