Bomb robot sent into parking garage

Portions of several streets in downtown Everett were closed this morning as Everett police investigated a suspicious bomb-like object discovered in a parking garage on the corner of Wetmore Avenue and California Street.

The device, a six-inch contraption with a fuse sticking out of one end, was discovered by a driver who was searching for a parking spot on the second floor of the garage, Everett police Lt. Bob Johns said.

The Everett Police Departments bomb squad arrived at the scene shortly after 9 a.m. They sent a remote-controlled robot into the garage to investigate, Johns said
