It seems to be a growing problem

On my lunch hour I try to get outside and take a walk. I’ve gotten used to the large amount of garbage I see along my way: bottles, cans, cigarette butts, paper, coins, etc. It is really quite ugly and depressing to think of how people blatantly, and without thought, toss out their garbage; it makes me think people don’t care about our environment.
Recently I saw an unbroken CD so I stopped and picked it up, curious to see what someone didn’t like listening to. It was “Latino Kings of Comedy.” It included Cheech Marin and George Lopez. Not wanting to carry it with me for two more miles (I had no pockets or bag in which to carry it) I put it back where I found it. My actions prompted a passing motorist’s passenger to get out of his car and yell at me to pick up my trash. I replied, “it was not mine.” At first I was embarrassed at having someone think that I would throw trash on the ground, but I realized what he did was a good thing. If we hold one another accountable for our actions we would have much less garbage littering our streets.
