Get all the signs out of intersections

Published 9:00 pm Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Signs, especially new home signs placed by developers, saturate our intersections and corners. These signs are placed on right-of-ways, traffic signposts and sometimes private property. In addition, there is not just one sign per developer but two or three in the same location. They are unsightly and add to the trashiness of our neighborhoods. They never seem to go away – even after they fall down, they stay at the location while new signs replacing them go up.

There has to be some ordinance or law that controls the placing of these signs. It should be easy to control. The responsible party’s name is right there on the sign. A substantial fine to the developer would pay for the establishment of a sign control group that would monitor the placement of signs in our county and take appropriate action when necessary.
