EVERETT – Snohomish County residents will have a chance to preview the Seafair fleet on Monday
That’s when three U.S. Navy ships and a Coast Guard cutter are scheduled to arrive at Naval Station Everett, staging for a parade of vessels that will sail into Elliott Bay for the Seattle Seafair celebration.
The vessels are scheduled to arrive about every 75 minutes between 8 a.m. and noon.
The vessels include the guided missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill, the amphibious transport dock ship USS Cleveland, the guided missile frigate USS Rentz and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast.
The Cleveland, flagship of the Seafair fleet, is scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m. The last ship, the Bunker Hill, is set to arrive at noon.
Some 1,500 sailors aboard those ships will be treated to a welcoming barbecue Monday afternoon, sponsored by the Everett Navy League.
There will be no public tours of the ships in Everett, but the vessels will be available for tours in Seattle.
The ships will leave Everett Tuesday morning. The Seafair tours will be at Seattle’s Pier 90 and Pier 91 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday through Aug. 4, and from noon to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 5, Navy officials said.
