50 years ago (1957)

Lloyd Wallgren was elected president of Everett Chamber of Commerce for the coming year in a regular meeting of the board of directors at the Monte Cristo Hotel. Also named were Ross Winde as first vice president; Steven Saunders, second vice president; and Gilbert Reeves, treasurer.

New teachers in Lake Stevens District No. 4 this coming fall were Patricia Barton, George Jackson, Patricia Johnson, Marcia Norwood, Norma Reeder, Ralph Squillance, Margie Whitehead, Raymond Doleshel, Doris Martin, Recia Zuckerman, Ruth Hallstrom, Marvin Harvey and Robert Rainwater.

25 years ago (1982)

Brierfest would kick off with a parade from Brier Terrace Junior High School to Brier City Park. Organizer Noreen Forck said there would be horses, scout troops, a baton-twirling troupe, a guitar group and lots of kids on bikes.

More cars moving faster down the Bothell-Everett Highway was the biggest change Curtis and Helen Wright had observed in their 11 years as proprietors of the North Creek Trading Post. They said the passing cars were the post’s livelihood.
