Arlington

Music in the Park set for Thursday

West Jones Band is scheduled to play country music at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Terrace Park, 809 E. Fifth St.

The concert is part of the city’s Music in the Park series.

Parking is available at Post Middle School, 1220 E. Fifth St.

Edmonds

Shredding event planned by city

People can have documents containing personal information shredded at an event sponsored by the city of Edmonds and Enterprise Newspapers.

The document-shredding event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 25 in the Top Food and Drug parking lot at 21900 Highway 99. The event is free.

Edmonds residents can bring up to five boxes of paper documents to be destroyed. Boxes must be no larger than 12 inches wide, 15 inches deep and 10 inches tall. The documents do not have to be in boxes.

Paper clips and other metal should be removed from the documents, but staples are OK. Plastic items cannot be accepted.

Crime prevention officers from the Edmonds Police Department are planning to provide information about identity theft during the shredding event.

The city is also planning to provide information on recycling.

EvCC plans open house tonight

Everett Community College has scheduled an open house at 5:30 p.m. today for prospective students and their families to learn more about education options.

Ten sessions will present different departments and degree information. Parking is free.

The event will be held at Whitehorse Hall, 2000 Tower St.

Live, lunchtime show Wednesday

Forgotten Sol, a funk-hip-hop and blues band, is slated to perform a live concert from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Snohomish County Campus amphitheater, at the corner of Rockefeller Avenue and Wall Street.

The performance is part of the county’s Music on the Plaza concert series, which will run through Aug. 22.

Coupeville High reunion Saturday

All Coupeville High School alumni and their families and friends are invited to attend a reunion from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Coupeville City Park gazebo during the Arts and Crafts Festival.

Alumni are invited to bring lawn chairs, coolers, food, cameras and old memories.

Tim Leese and his reunion band plan to play live music from 4 to 6 p.m.

Lynnwood

Night for teens planned by city

Teenage students can spend an evening at the Lynnwood Recreation Center through an event being planned by the city.

The event, NightWaves Teen Night, is scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to midnight Sept. 15 at the recreation center at 18900 44th Ave. W.

Students in seventh through 12th grades can attend. Admission is $5 with a valid school identification card or a NightWaves wristband.

The wristbands are expected to be passed out during lunchtime a week before the event at Alderwood Middle School, College Place Middle School, Meadowdale Middle School and Brier Middle School.

Dancing, swimming, movies and racquetball are among the activities planned for the event.

Food bank seeks school supplies

The Sky Valley Food Bank is collecting donations of school supplies to help underprivileged students in the Monroe School District.

People can donate new backpacks and other school supplies or money to purchase the supplies at Sky Valley Food Bank, P.O. Box 724, Monroe, WA 98272.

Party for readers planned at library

Children who’ve met their summer reading goals are invited to celebrate at a party being planned at the Mukilteo Library.

The party is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 25 at the library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd.

Musician Tim Noah is planning to provide entertainment, and Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine is expected to hand out certificates to readers. The event is being planned by Friends of the Mukilteo Library.

Event aims to combat crime

The Snohomish Police Department, Snohomish Fire District 4 and the Snohomish Boys &Girls Club invite people to attend the celebration of National Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Averill Field at Second Street and Pine Avenue.

The event promotes crime prevention and drug prevention awareness and to strengthen the police-community relationship.

Summerfest in Warm Beach

The Warm Beach Community Association plans Summerfest from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Warm Beach Community Park, 18016 84th St. NW.

The free event features food, children’s activities including an elephant walk, wagon rides, face painting, a silent auction, chicken-poop bingo and a raffle are also planned.
