A two-bedroom, 2.5-bath multilevel custom Cape Cod in the Tulare Beach area is our featured home this week. It was built in 1999 and includes a bonus room with bathroom above the garage.
Walls and ceilings throughout the house are made of Alaskan white cedar, and there are Sound views from almost every room.
A community-owned waterfront area is across the street from the house.
A double door with paned glass at the front of the house opens to a small foyer with tile flooring.
To the right is a living room or family room with pale neutral plush carpeting, surround sound, bay window facing the view, and a gas fireplace with river rock surround. The room is open to the upper levels, with two skylights in its vaulted cathedral ceiling. The fireplace is flanked by built-in bookshelves and cabinets.
Steps away is a U-shaped kitchen with tile flooring, granite slab countertops, beadboard-style painted cabinets, a pantry, breakfast bar, recessed lighting, and a view window above the sink.
A paned-glass door in the kitchen opens to a breezeway that connects the house and garage.
Around the corner from the kitchen is a short hall accessing a three-quarter bathroom and one bedroom.
The bathroom has marble tile flooring, an elongated double vanity topped with marble slab, and a shower with marble tile surround. The bedroom has a double closet, and windows on two sides.
A series of log switchback staircases begin in the living room and ascend to the many upper levels.
On the first level there is a loft suitable for use as a library or home office.
On the next level, another loft with wet bar and built-in shelves and cabinets has a bay window with a panoramic Sound view. The room includes a paned-glass door that opens to a partially-covered view deck.
The owner’s suite is also on this level. Its bedroom has a vaulted cathedral ceiling and a sliding-glass door accessing the deck.
Features of the suite’s bathroom include two high elongated single vanities topped with marble slab, a shower with marble tile surround, and a deep oval jetted tub encased in tile.
