Not all hires turn out to be good fit

I am rarely moved to respond to opinions expressed in the newspaper, taking much of what is said with a grain of salt … until now.

I find myself incensed by the innuendo and gross ignorance of facts displayed by the author of Tuesday’s letter, “Keep following Moynihan story.” The writer makes presumptions about the interview process and is surprised by the development of “significant differences.” Some folks are very good at interviews and know how to tell a story that people want to hear.

Any issues pertaining to Mr. Moynihan’s dismissal are strictly confidential, so how is it that the writer purports to know or “understand” any of the circumstances of his departure? The conjecture about these matters is slanderous.

How dare he mingle the issue of a job mismatch with the travesty brought upon an entire football team by the Cascade Conference and the bureaucratic WIAA!

As parents, we teach our children, in concert with Archbishop Murphy High School, to have high moral standards, integrity, honesty and a strong work ethic. This team has done everything asked of it and gone far beyond in its quest to honor the legacy of a coach they dearly loved. An accidental infraction of a “rule,” which the school self reported, resulted in the loss of not just months, but (for some) years of work toward perfection and a final tribute to their coach.

Since the writer does not appear on the current school family roster, it does not surprise me that he is unaware of the diligence, hard work and generosity of the current school board. His comments are baseless, without merit and insensitive beyond belief.
