But at least you’ll save on gas

A Spokane man is charging ahead in his effort to get an electric commuter car to the market. The tiny Tango is zippy — 0 to 60 mph in about 4 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. It’s also cute and great for the environment. In fact, everything about it is lovable. Except the price tag, which is currently more than $100,000.

For that price, we wonder if it cleans the garage and chauffeurs you to work while you enjoy a catnap.

The County Council might roll back property taxes. But not much. It’s about enough to buy “half a can of Spam,” according to one councilman. Well, thank heavens, because you couldn’t pay us enough to buy a can of Spam.

Spam, by the way, was created about 70 years ago and, according to the Spam Web site, was “one of the greatest moments in the history of mankind.” Great, indeed. It ranks right up there with the creation of pantyhose, obnoxious ringtones, the Teletubbies and reality TV.
