More cowbell!

It’s Cowbell Night at Comcast Arena, and Herald writer Nick Patterson explains how the moderately irritating percussion instrument became an iconic part of the Everett Silvertips franchise.
Cowbells are happening, thanks to a “Saturday Night Live” sketch that launched the catchphrase “more cowbell” a few years back.
Long before the “SNL” sketch, the cowbell was a clanking staple of old-school arena rock. You might remember these cowbell-tastic tunes:
Get a load of that ginormous gavel in John Lovick’s hands. Lovick, Snohomish County’s newly elected sheriff, wielded it as he presided over floor debate in the state House.
Lovick won’t have any use for the giant gavel in his new job. But man, would another sheriff — Buford Pusser — have loved that thing or what?
