SHORELINE — The Shoreline Christian girls basketball team entered its game against unbeaten La Conner pumped up and ready to go.

The Crusaders used full-court pressure defense in creating 27 La Conner turnovers and remained unbeaten by cruising to a 49-20 Northwest 1A/2B League win at Shoreline Christian High School Friday.

Shoreline Christian (2-0 in league, 6-0 overall) used six steals and nine turnovers to jump out to a 19-6 first-quarter lead.

Angela Woods scored 10 of her game-high 16 points in the quarter.

“We played very much error-free ball in the first half,” Shoreline Christian head coach Stan De Yager said.

Junior Sarah Daigneault scored a season-high 13 points and added eight steals and four-year starter Ann Barrick contributed 12 points, five assists and six steals for the Crusaders.

“It was a solid game. Our kids were cranked up. Two undefeated teams coming at each other,” De Yager said.

Shoreline Christian finished the game with 20 steals.

“We knew coming in that we had to accelerate the game. We wanted it to be up-tempo,” De Yager said.
