Man robbed at gunpoint outside Firdale home

A 18-year-old Firdale man was robbed at gunpoint outside his Edmonds home Jan. 16, only hours after his car had been prowled in Seattle.

At 11:26 p.m., as the victim tried to repair his car window in his driveway with a garbage bag, he was confronted from behind by an armed suspect. The robbery occurred in the 24300 block of 90th Avenue West.

After initially insisting that he didn’t have any cash, the victim handed over the contents of his pocket, Edmonds police said. The victim lost $80 in cash, an iPod, a debit card and a high school ID card, police said.

The victim told police he believes the crimes were related. He did not know the suspect, Edmonds police said.

“This type of robbery is not common here,” Sgt. Don Anderson with the Edmonds police said.

An investigation is on going.

The suspect is described as a thin black male, approximately 5-foot-9 and about 18 or 19-years-old. He was wearing baggy blue jeans, an unzipped black hooded puffy jacket with tan fur around the edge of the hood, and a plain white t-shirt.

The suspect wore a maroon bandanna over his face and nose, and is described as having “small eyes,” Anderson said.

After robbing the victim, the suspect ran south on 90th Avenue West and got into a waiting 4-door gray or tan Honda, police said.

Later in the evening, the stolen debit card was used at a QFC in Seattle, police said.

An Edmonds detective went to the store to monitor surveillance tape, but could not make an ID from it, Anderson said.

Anybody with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Edmonds police tip line at 425-771-0212.
