Geraldine “Jeri” Condit, a former community columnist for the Mill Creek Enterprise, passed away Nov. 21 at age 86.
A musician and writer, Condit wrote an occasional column called “Trivial Pursuits” for the Mill Creek Enterprise from 1999 to 2001. She also wrote for other community newspapers.
Most recently a resident of Merrill Gardens Retirement Community in Mill Creek, Condit’s columns, which frequently ran on page 2 of the Enterprise, dealt with a variety of subjects. She wrote about state and local history, hunting blackberries, different types of rocks, and whatever else struck her fancy. Her style was light and conversational, almost homespun, and usually showed a dash of humor.
“She always had interesting stories,” said Kristin Kinnamon, editor of the Mill Creek Enterprise when Condit was a columnist. “She really had so much local history.”
She is survived by her son, Tom Copland of Aberdeen, a daughter, Lynn Kodama of Seattle, six grandchildren, Rachael Copland, Thomas Copland, John Copland, Ian Copland, Kirstin Kodama and Chad Kodama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morsman Condit.
