Today, health columnist Elizabeth Smoots lists tips for easing back pain. They include sitting properly, keeping active and exploring alternative therapies. You could also try watching “Beowulf,” which is out on DVD. It might be bad enough to scare the back pain right out of you.
People were keeping active in Anchorage, Alaska, by running races against reindeer through city streets on Sunday. Amazingly, the event went off without a hitch or any unfortunate collisions with the reindeers’ antlers. Good thing, too, because no amount of proper sitting would cure that kind of pain.
Still on the subject of sitting: The Oscars apparently couldn’t keep people in their seats, because early numbers indicate this year’s show was the least-watched in Oscar history. Maybe they saw some of the dresses on the red carpet and became confused about whether they were watching an awards show or Animal Planet.
A new trade school in California teaches students how to cultivate and cook with pot to prepare them for work in the medical marijuana industry. Jobs in the industry can be lucrative, with salaries between $50,000 and $100,000. Having such a position on your resume might make for an awkward time in your next job interview, though.
