Awards for goofing off on YouTube

Published 10:57 pm Thursday, March 20, 2008

Well, now that we’ve made our contribution and held our annual NCAA bracket bonfire (thanks for nothing, Kentucky), it’s time to concentrate on today’s real news.

Item 1: YouTube announced its top user-created videos, with the “Chocolate Rain” singer (at right) and the “Harry Potter” hand puppets among those walking away with awards recognizing 12 of the site’s top videos.

Honorable mentions went to 50,287 variations of “Cat on a Skateboard.”

Item 2: Dear Abby takes a letter from a woman who has “lost the art of listening.” The letter writer says she tends to lose patience with people at work who ramble about their lives and take the long, roundabout way of getting to the point.

The letter goes on and on for a while, but we got bored and had to move on.

Item 3: A man allegedly stole 20,000 gallons of gasoline from pumps in Washington and Oregon. The gas was found in 55-gallon drums stacked in the man’s pickup.

It’s likely the fuel was all for personal use. His other car is an Airbus refueling tanker.
