PREP BASEBALL: Meadowdale can’t find the holes, finishes fourth in 3A

Seattle — Issaquah methodically scored seven runs Saturday against Meadowdale, hitting the ball where it needed to go and at the right times, earning a 7-2 win in the third/fourth-place game in the 3A state tournament at Safeco Field.

“(Issaquah) did a good job putting the ball in play,” Meadowdale coach Bill Hummel said.

Hummel said his team made good contact with the ball all day but always seemed to just line pitches directly to infielders.

Andy Salmeri of Issaquah was the game’s RBI leader, driving in two while going 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and a sacrifice fly.

Teagan Dooley and Andrew Suh of Meadowdale both were 2-for-3 in the game and teammate Taylor Brennan was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
