Mariners would be better in land of make-believe

Good news for fantasy baseball players. A ruling Monday means that fantasy sports leagues can continue using players’ names and statistics without paying the players. So if you own Richie Sexson and his .200 average, it won’t cost you any more to be in last place.
In related news, the Seattle Mariners have gone to court seeking to use made-up players instead of the real ones they’ve been putting on the field.
Tennis star/spokesĀmodel Maria Sharapova was booed off the court after losing at the French Open. The crowd grew tired of her customary loud grunts and shrieks after every point.
Sharapova’s true fans appreciate the grunts, but they couldn’t turn out for the match. They were too busy drooling over her Internet videos.
And in football, the Denver Broncos released running back Travis Henry, who has famously outdone Shawn Kemp by fathering at least nine children with nine different women.
After getting involved with Henry for a year, the Broncos said they didn’t think he showed enough commitment. No way they could’ve seen that coming.
