Lake Stevens grad qualifies for U.S. Open

Lake Stevens grad Rob Rashell qualified for the U.S. Open by finishing second at a sectional qualifier in Creswell, Ore. on Monday. The former University of Washington standout shot a two-day total of 140.
This year’s Open, which will be held at Torrey Pines Golf Club in LaJolla, Calif., on June 12-15, will be Rashell’s second, after he played in the 2005 U.S. Open,.
UW sophomore Nick Taylor won the sectional qualifier to also earn a spot in the U.S. Open. He shot a 138 over the two rounds. On Saturday, Taylor tied for runner-up at the NCAA championships.
