Identifying sleaze isn’t real offense

Calling names isn’t nice, but to tell young girls to do whatever it takes to get ahead is far more offensive. I don’t think it is very lady like to use every weapon in one’s arsenal just to get ahead in the world (June 9 letter “Insults show how far off the track we are.”) A June 3 letter writer called sleazy what it is. Selling yourself to make money is also called prostitution. To be offended because “someone’s daughter” is called a pig, but not to be offended that this same “someone’s daughter” is being lusted after and used for profit is disturbing and sad.

Did the letter writer even stop to think that the original writer is only trying to defend his children? Yes, the human body can be quite beautiful and who really cares if someone wants to buy coffee from naked people. But excuse us “moral parents” (as we are named) for wanting the buying of such coffee to be in a private establishment. The people who support these stands and who are tired of hearing the opposition fail to understand that all we are asking is that you take it inside to a private establishment. These stands are not family friendly.

Oh, but I forgot, how dare we parents try to raise daughters who know their self worth or sons who grow up to respect women, respect life, respect their future role as a husband and father. Quit perpetuating the cycle of disregard and disrepect. If the writer thinks that this world is in such great shape, then she must have a great pair of rose colored glasses on. It is time for a change. Time for people to respect life, not degrade it and sell themselves for a quick buck. Oh, and thanks to all you clothed baristas.
