Get down on the farm with fall festivals

Take your pick: A Harvest Jubilee in Stanwood on Saturday celebrates local agriculture.
The event includes visits to farms, live music, barn dances, exhibits and hayrides from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Farmers have banded together to offer the Snohomish Festival of Pumpkins Celebration starting Sept. 27 and running through October.
A pumpkin hurling contest will begin at noon Oct. 4 at Bartelheimer Field, 10010, 115th Ave SE, Snohomish. The event features a medieval-style catapult to chuck the gourds into orbit.
Another pumpkin event including games, a costume contest for people and pets, pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 25 in downtown Snohomish at First Street and Avenue A.
Individual farms will be offering activities such as hayrides, corn mazes and U-pick pumpkins. For more information, go online to www.festivalofpumpkins.org.
