Bear markets, bear hunters and bear stew

Published 10:45 pm Thursday, September 18, 2008

It’s the stupid economy: Hoping to get a handle on the nation’s financial crisis, the Bush administration says it may create a federal agency to buy up bad loans and mortgages.

Granted, The Buzz still considers baseball cards to be a strong investment, but we’re a little fuzzy on why buying up bad loans would be a good idea. Perhaps government scientists have hit on a way to turn worthless IOUs into ethanol.

Gladly, the cross-eyed bear: A poor berry season is sending bears into more populated areas. Problem bears are often tranquilized and moved. But state game agents advise hunters not to eat the meat of tagged bears, in case some of the drug remains in their systems.

If using tranquilized bear meat in your stew, cut the amount of Coors beer to three cans instead of the whole six-pack.

John who? Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who is running for the White House with this other guy, is the subject of scores of videos on YouTube and other Web sites.

If this politics thing doesn’t work out for her, we think she could host her own cooking show. We’ve even got this great recipe for tranquilized bear stew she can use.
