Seahawks’ Kerney fined

RENTON — Seattle Seahawks defensive end Patrick Kerney was fined by the NFL on Friday for continuing to play after the whistle in Sunday’s game against San Francisco.

NFL officials said that Kerney was fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness, citing a play in which the defensive end grabbed an opponent’s face mask.

Kerney said that on the play in question, he did not hear the whistle, reaching his arm back and inadvertently hitting an opponent’s face mask.
