Hasselbeck says he hopes to practice Thursday

RENTON — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck told reporters in Green Bay that he wanted to practice Wednesday but was told to take the day off.

“We’re being cautious with it today,” he said via conference call Wednesday morning, “so I think I’m just going to watch today. But that wasn’t my choice. I wanted to get out there today. It should be fine tomorrow.”

Hasselbeck (knee) and backup Seneca Wallace (calf) sat out Wednesday’s practice. Charlie Frye took all the snaps — with both the first team and the scout team.

Coach Mike Holmgren said that Hasselbeck, who did not speak with Seattle reporters on Wednesday, will play Sunday against Green Bay. The coach did not know when his quarterback will return to the practice field.
