Prep swimming: Depth helps Shorewood capture title

MUKILTEO — When you have a team as deep as the Shorewood Thunderbirds, dual meets are your friend.

In a battle of Wesco South unbeatens, Shorewood won just five of the 12 events, but its depth gave it enough points in each event to beat the Kamiak Knights 98-88 Thursday at the Kamiak High School pool. Shorewood’s win clinched the Wesco South title.

Shorewood senior Tara McIntyre won the 200-yard freestyle and posted a key second place in the 100.
