It’s official: Wallace to start

RENTON — After a third consecutive day of practice, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace looks healthy enough to start on Sunday, coach Mike Holmgren announced Friday afternoon.

“He feels OK,” Holmgren said, “so it’s going to be his ball game, I believe, unless something happens in the next two days. And I’ve got confidence in him.”

Wallace has been nursing a sore calf and was on the sideline last week when Charlie Frye got the start. Matt Hasselbeck is out with a bulging disk in his back.

Holmgren also said that veteran Darryl Tapp would start at defensive end, replacing rookie Lawrence Jackson.

Sean Locklear will start at right tackle, Holmgren said, although Ray Willis will play.

Wide receiver Deion Branch was very limited in practice, but Holmgren said there is still a remote chance he’ll play Sunday against Tampa Bay.
