North Dakota defeats Western Washington 42-32

GRAND FORKS, N.D — Sophomore tailback Josh Murray rushed 26 times for a career-high 219 yards and two touchdowns Saturday as North Dakota defeated Western Washington 42-32.

The teams combined for more than 900 yards of offense. The Sioux (5-1) had 429 yards, as quarterback Danny Freund completed 14 of 22 attempts for 181 yards and three touchdowns.

Alex Nicholas had two scoring catches, wrestling the ball away form defenders both times. Brady Trenbeath also had a TD catch. Catlin Solum scored the last UND touchdown on a 3-yard run that made it 42-24 lead with 11:25 left.

The Vikings made it 42-32 with 6:03 left. But Murray and Solum combined for nine rushes for 45 yards to eat up most of the clock on the ensuing possession.

Western Washington (3-4) had 481 yards of offense, led by quarterback Adam Perry, who completed 24 of 37 attempts for 374 yards and four touchdowns. Pat McCann had six receptions for 179 yards and two scores.
