Boxers or panties

‘Cause she’s got high hopes: In a story about the dwindling number of people who feel the country is on the right track, the Associated Press quotes a Marysville woman, Paula Fortin, who’s trying to keep things in perspective. “Things go in cycles. Even when things are at their worst, there’s still an upturn,” Fortin said.

Like Fortin, The Buzz likes to keep on the sunny side, which is why our latest 401(k) statement sits on our desk, unopened.

Boxers or panties: A 70-year-old man writes to Dear Abby, saying that his wife, who gives him only a $5 weekly allowance, told him to wear her panties when his own underwear wore out.

We feel for the guy, but if you can’t wear the pants in your family then it’s time to go commando.

Feeling a little blah? A Massachusetts college seeking donations used the word “blah” 137 times in a fundraising letter, hoping a little humor would appeal to younger alums, but one graduate felt the letter “insulted the intelligence” of alumni.

Frankly, we agree. It was just a cheap stunt to get a laugh. And furthermore, blah, blah, blah, blah.
