Prep volleyball: Marysville-Pilchuck closes in on district playoff berth

EVERETT — Marysville-Pilchuck did its part to secure a 4A District 1 playoff spot by dismantling Cascade 25-17, 25-10, 25-13 in a Wesco North volleyball match Thursday.
Trouble is M-P also need a loss by Stanwood and the Spartans match against league co-leader Monroe was postponed.
Jenna Welsh and Emily Boerger each chipped in 14 kills for M-P (5-0, 8-3) and Brittany Fitzmaurice had 39 assists. Cascade fell to 0-5 in league, 2-9 overall.
Stanwood at Monroe, ppd.: At Monroe, Thursday night’s Wesco North volleyball match between Monroe and Stanwood was rescheduled after a fire sprinkler flooded parts of Monroe High School. The make-up contest has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday at Monroe.
Lake Stevens 3, Arlington 1: At Lake Stevens, Lake Stevens (3-2 league, 4-6 overall) took a 25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 25-19 Wesco North victory behind 12 kills from Lindsey Walter and seven blocks and seven kills from Chloe Rost. Arlington (1-4, 4-8) was led by 29 assists from Kelsey Czaban and 16 kills from Breanna Covey.
Snohomish 3, Everett 1: At Snohomish, after dropping the first set 28-30, Snohomish ripped off wins of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-21 to take the Wesco North victory. Larissa Dirks had 21 kills to lead Snohomish (4-1 league, 9-2 overall) and Joanna Balin added 12 kills. Everett (3-2, 7-4) received 11 kills and 16 digs from Ally Lund, and Emily Liger chipped in 12 kills.
Edmonds-Woodway 3, Lynnwood 0: At Edmonds, Leigh Fishback had 33 assists, Cailin Fellows had 15 kills and 10 digs, Hannah Lauber had eight kills and Edmonds-Woodway (6-0 league, 9-2 overall) rolled to a 25-12, 25-18, 25-21 Wesco South victory. Lynnwood (2-4, 6-5) was led by Laycee Hill’s nine assists. Katie Thurston added eight digs and Annie Ogle had seven kills for Lynnwood.
Kamiak 3, Jackson 2: At Mill Creek, after falling 25-27, 21-25 in the first two sets, Kamiak mounted an impressive 25-15, 25-20, 16-14 comeback to win the Wesco South game. Freshman Bryce Larson led Kamiak with 20 kills and teammates Anna Senouillet and Jazmyne Dodd had nine and eight kills, respectively, for the Knights (5-1 in league, 9-1 overall). Kelsey Fitzpatrick had eight kills, seven digs and six aces and Christy Cain and Leigh-Ann Haataja each had eight kills apiece for Jackson (3-3, 4-7).
Meadowdale 3, Mountlake Terrace 0: At Lynnwood, Lynsey Rohrbach had seven kills and two blocks, Megan Nelson had 23 assists and Mara Eberth added 14 digs to lead Meadowdale (4-2 in league, 5-6 overall) to the 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 Wesco South win. No statistics were reported for Mountlake Terrace (3-3, 5-6).
Shorecrest 3, Shorewood 0: At Shoreline, Kerry Clavadetscher had 16 assists and five aces, Jamie McDonald had 10 kills and Shorecrest (5-1, 7-3) rolled to a 25-8, 25-21, 25-14 Wesco South victory over Shorewood (1-5, 4-7). Erin Hill and Carolyn Stransky each had eight assists to lead Shorewood and Ashley Baker chipped in seven kills.
Darrington 3, Shoreline Christian 2: At Shoreline, Mandy Powell had eight kills and 34 digs for Darrington in its 16-25, 25-19, 11-25, 25-16, 17-15 Northwest 1A/2B victory. Hailey Wales led Darrington (8-1 league, 8-3 overall) in kills with 10 and also had six blocks. Setter Kolby Fanning had 28 assists and five aces. Shoreline Christian’s (6-3, 7-4) Angie Dekoekkoek had 20 kills and nine blocks.
