Thursday Willingham/practice notes

Nothing big to report from today’s press briefing with Tyrone Willingham (certainly no news as big as what’s going on in Tucson today).
Willingham said David Freeman (ankle) continues to progress well and should probably be available Saturday. Even if he can go, however, Freeman will back up Terrance Dailey, who ran for 102 yards in his first start last week.
If you want to see all of what Willingham had to say, you can get it here at gohuskies.com.
Perhaps a bit of good news for the struggling UW defense, which has not done well against the pass this year, we saw two interceptions during the portion of practice open to the media.
The No. 1 defense was going against the No. 1 offense (though it was a nickel package, not the base defense) in a two-minute drill when Matt Mosely intercepted a Ronnie Fouch pass and returned it for a touchdown. That led to a somewhat comical moment in which the defense “practiced” celebrating. And don’t worry, nobody threw the ball “high into the air.”
When the backups were going against each other, Marquis Persley intercepted a Taylor Bean pass. Of course, good news for the defense in practice means bad news for the offense.
