Edmonds
Repairs shut Talbot Road
Talbot Road will be closed to through traffic for 30 days beginning today for emergency roadwork.
The work is being done to repair a failing storm culvert beneath the 8000 block of Talbot Road, between Cyrus Place and Sealawn Place.
During the closure, drivers should use Olympic View Drive and 76th Avenue W. as alternate routes. Local access to residents south of Cyrus Place will be maintained, while those north of Cyrus Place will need to use 76th Avenue W. and 171st Street SW.

Everett
Veterans to speak at World War II museum
Several World War II fighter pilots plan to speak Tuesday, Veterans Day, at the Flying Heritage Collection museum at Paine Field.
Flying Heroes of World War II features a panel of veterans and experts discussing how air power and changing technology influenced the war’s outcome. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the museum, 3407 109th St. SW, Everett.
Veteran U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy fliers will join a Polish pilot to talk about how the war changed their lives.
Veterans are admitted free to the museum on Tuesday. For others, museum rates will apply.

Garden Club turns 70
The Everett Garden Club is turning 70 and its members are throwing a party at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Community Church, 710 Pecks Drive.
This month’s program focuses on creating flower designs with plant material. Coffee and cake will be served. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Lake Stevens
Food bank needs drivers
The Lake Stevens Community Food Bank seeks drivers for its truck to fill in shifts during the week. Drivers travel with a helper to stores to get stores’ donations.
Shifts start between 7:45 and 8 a.m. and are done by 10:30 a.m. Each driver is asked to work one day a week, must have a valid driver’s license.

Pancake feed benefit
Support the senior center and fill your belly at a pancake breakfast fundraiser set for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the East County Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway. Proceeds benefit the senior center. The meal cost $4 adults and $2.75 for children under 12.

Skykomish
Skykomish native graduates 55 years late
Sam Mitsui attended Skykomish High School until his senior year, when his family was sent to a California internment camp in 1943. The former Skykomish resident will receive his diploma, cap and gown and a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. today at the Skykomish High School gym. Mitsui later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He’ll speak about the internment camp and his military service.

Winged help for gardens
The Snohomish Garden Club hosts wildlife biologist Russell Link and his talk “Gardening on the Wing: Bats, Bees, Birds and Butterflies” at 6:45 p.m. today at the Snohomish High School cafeteria, 1316 Fifth St.
