Food drive for Northwest Harvest

Quadrant Homes is running a food drive to benefit Northwest Harvest through Monday. Nonperishable food items can be donated at any one of Quadrant’s 15 sales centers in Puget Sound. Organizers plan to offer free tickets to Seattle’s Space Needle to use any time before the end of 2009 to those who donate items.

TOP Food runs food drive for NW Harvest

TOP Food and Drug Stores and KBKS (KISS) (106.1 FM) seek nonperishable food items for a food drive starting Monday through Nov. 23 to benefit Northwest Harvest.

Donations may be made at any TOP Food and Drug store. Donors also may purchase bags of groceries that include rice, pasta and soup for $5 each at TOP Food and Drug stores.

Singers needed for food drive event

Haggen Food and Pharmacy and TOP Food and Drug stores in Snohomish County seek singers for the annual Sing from the Heart event scheduled for Dec. 12 to 14.

The stores plan to make a donation of $50 to a local food bank for each hour a group presents holiday music. Participants may include organizations, bands, choirs, families or friends. Children’s groups can register for 30-minute performances.

Firefighters to collect toys and food

Firefighters with The North County Fire and Emergency Medical Services and Starbucks baristas host a toy and food drive through Dec. 12 to benefit the Stanwood Food Bank and Christmas House. Donations of toys and canned food items can be dropped off at the Stanwood Haggens Starbucks, the Stanwood Starbucks in the QFC Village, Warm Beach Fire Station, Freeborn Fire Station and the Bryant Fire Station.

Free Thanksgiving dinner offered in Sultan

Sultan Harvest offers its seventh annual free Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at Volunteers of America Camp Volasuca, 617 First St., Sultan. The event includes crafts and games for kids.

Organizers seek donations of food, roaster pans and paper towels for the dinner. Volunteers also are needed to help before, during and after the event. Cash and food donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays at Volunteers of America-Sky Valley Community Resource Center, 701 First St., Sultan.

Holiday hours at Sky Valley Food Bank

The Sky Valley Food Bank in Monroe has posted its holiday hours. The food bank is slated to be open from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 24 and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 25, and closed Nov. 26, reopening Dec. 1.

Food can be dropped off a half-hour prior to opening or at alternate locations when the food bank is closed.
