Jazz groups play all day in Mill Creek

The Mill Creek Jazz Festival is planned for all day Saturday.

The festival features middle school, junior high, high school and community instrumental jazz ensembles and combos from throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Sponsored by the Jackson High School Instrumental Music Department, Jackson band and arts boosters, the free, all-day festival is at Jackson High School, 1508 136th St. SE, Mill Creek.

Flood, insurance talk set in Sultan

FEMA officials will talk about a flood zone study that could raise insurance premiums for hundreds at a Sultan City Council and Planning Board meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sultan City Hall, 319 Main St.

Auction will benefit Snohomish arts

Dozens of art pieces in various media created by local artists will be on display and available for bidding at a silent auction at the Arts of Snohomish Gallery, 105 Cedar Ave.

Bid until Dec. 6. The gallery will have a reception that evening. Proceeds benefit gallery programs.

The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Talk about grief in Marysville

Marysville Church of the Nazarene offers GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays at 1 p.m. Sunday at 8240 64th St. NE, Marysville.

The seminar is for people facing the holidays after the death of a loved one.

Topics to be discussed include “Why the Holidays Are Tough,” “What to Expect” and “Using the Holidays to Help You Heal.”

Hear koto at Brier, Terrace libraries

Master koto player Elizabeth Falconer is scheduled to perform Japanese folk tales using puppets and the koto at the Brier Library and the Mountlake Terrace Library on Saturday.

The koto is a 13-stringed harplike instrument.

Performances are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brier Library, 23303 Brier Road, and 1 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W.
