The UW just announced that the school will retire Brandon Roy’s No. 3 this season.
Roy, an NBA All-Star for the Portland Trail Blazers and the 2007 NBA rookie of the year, will be honored before the Jan. 22 home game against USC.
“I would like to thank President Mark Emmert, Scott Woodward and Coach Romar for this tremendous honor,” Roy said in a statement released by the school. “It was always my dream to go to school at UW and play basketball for the Huskies. I cherish the time I spent at UW as it allowed me to develop as a basketball player and grow as a person. I was truly blessed to have amazing teammates, a great coaching staff and an unbelievable athletic department who supported me every step of the way. January 22nd will be a very special day for me and my family and I look forward to sharing it with all of the great UW fans.”
