Stupid scientist tricks

Scratch that study: It won’t surprise most dog owners, but a recent study says dogs know when they’re getting a raw deal. In the experiment when one dog was offered a treat after it was told to offer its paw, if the other dog didn’t also get a treat, it refused the command.

Researchers tried the same thing with cats, but when cats were denied treats they unsheathed their claws and sliced open the box of kibble.

A mattress works, too: Today’s investment tip? Buy a $10,000 Treasury bill for $9,999.87, and reap the 13-cent profit in just three short months.

Sure, it’s not the best rate of return, but we’ll bet you 13 cents it beats what you got from your 401(k) since September.

Alfred, pack my bags: Now that the automakers have their bailout, a leading U.S. House Democrat says similar help for borrowers hoping to avoid the foreclosure of their homes will have to wait until Barack Obama takes office.

It’s enough to get homeowners on the brink of losing their houses to fire up their corporate jets and fly to Washington, D.C., to give Congress a piece of their minds.
