Sky Valley Food Bank posts holiday hours

The Sky Valley Food Bank offers two food distribution days before closing for Christmas. Food distribution hours are set for 9 to 11:30 a.m. today and Friday at 233 Sky River Parkway, Monroe.

Normal food distribution hours are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays.

The food bank will be closed Dec. 20-29 and closed for New Year’s Day, reopening Jan. 5.

Open house tonight benefits food bank

Buck’s American Cafe invites the public to its 23rd annual holiday open house to benefit the Volunteers of America Food Bank.

The open house is set for 5 p.m. to closing today at 2901 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Food and cash donations for the food bank will be appreciated.

Organizers plan to serve complimentary appetizers.

High school concert to benefit food bank, kids

Several Mountlake Terrace High School bands play a benefit concert at 7 p.m. today at 21801 44th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace.

The concert benefits the Concern for Neighbors Food Bank in Mountlake Terrace and Clothes for Kids in Lynnwood.

Gift cards, cash donations, nonperishable food items and new or gently used clothes for kids from infancy through high school will be appreciated.

Clothes for Kids urgently needs new socks and underwear.

Arlington music venue hosts jam sessions

Village Music and Art offers Winter Vacation Jam Sessions for youth and adults of all abilities from 1 to 3 p.m. Fridays at 338 N. McLeod St., Arlington.

Jon Dalgran and Voices of the Village plan to provide music. Participants can bring their own instruments or use those provided.

Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Gift-making event for teens set for Saturday

The Mountlake Terrace Library offers a teen holiday gift-making event starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at 23300 58th Ave. W., Mountlake Terrace.

Organizers plan to offer materials and instructions for do-it-yourself projects such as making jewelry from items found at the hardware store and glass refrigerator magnets.

The event includes games, free hot apple cider and cookies.

Pet photos with Santa benefit shelter Sunday

The Everett Animal Shelter and Rodland Toyota play host to a pet photo session with Santa from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at 6816 Evergreen Way, Everett, to raise funds for the shelter and its rescue services.

A tax-deductible donation of $20 buys a framed photo and disc with five poses of each pet with Santa.

Boy Scouts to recycle Christmas trees

Boy Scout Troop No. 46 of Camano Island plans to collect and recycle Christmas trees on Jan. 3 as a community service and fundraiser.

Trees can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Camano Plaza parking lot at 370 N. East Camano Drive, Camano Island.
